  • Charity

The Newton Fire Fighters Association is involved with many charities around the country and here in Newton. We regularly work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, and Toys for Tots. We are also involved with many local charities and organizations such as The Boys&Girls Club, Newton Little Leagues, Newton Special Olympics, and Newton Wellesley Hospital. Helping others in need is what we do, this is just another way of doing just that.

    Newton Firefighters/ARS Services

    Scholarship

We are very pleased to announce the continuation this year of a $5000.00 scholarship for a child or grandchild of a Newton Firefighter as in previous years by ARS. This scholarship would not be possible without the generosity of ARS Restoration Services.

ARS Services, based in Newton, MA with over 85 full-time employees, is one of the largest and most respected emergency restoration companies in New England, and has been for over 23 years.  ARS specializes in full-service 24-Hour Emergency Disaster Mitigation and Restoration services for Commercial and Residential properties…including full Reconstruction.  Whether a property has suffered a fire, smoke/soot damage, needs emergency board ups, or has suffered water damage or flooding due to a burst pipe, or faulty sprinklers, ARS possesses the staff, expertise and proper equipment to restore the property.

ARS has served the Newton community for more than 23 years. Together with their staff members, friends, clients and families, ARS works to make a difference through volunteer work, special events and other efforts.  These efforts have allowed ARS to proudly support The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, The Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Newton Boys and Girls Club and now the Newton Firefighters Association.

We are very excited about this partnership and look forward to many years to come with this special gift.

    Apr 29, 2009

On April 21st, 2014, members and supporters of Local 863 will be participating in the 118th Boston Marathon. The runners will be donating their funds to the Newton Firefighter's Children's Fund. The Newton Firefighters Children’s Fund was created in 2010 to help aid the families of recently fallen active Newton Fighters. Each holiday season, each child receives a check from the fund. They continue to be in the program until they reach the age of 21. Even though this is a small gesture it helps remind the families that they are remembered and will always be part of the Newton Fire Family. Due to the success of the fund, this year we will be extending our reach to include firefighters who fall in the line of duty throughout the state of Massachusetts. Families of the firefighters will receive a one-time check from the NFD Children’s fund.

Good Luck to all those who are participating, and train hard!

On February 26th a few of our members particpated in the 13th annual MDA Ski Muster at Wachusett Mountain. This annual event pits teams of firefighters against one another in downhill ski events all while wearing full turn-out gear. It is a day full of skiing, laughs, and raising money for the MDA. This year our team helped raise $1225, great job guys.

Hats off to Bob Chagnon Jr. for once again organizing a very successful Toys for Tots campaign. This year with the help of all the people who donated toys and money, we gathered over 75 LARGE plastic bags full of toys and over $800 for the Marine Corps. Toys for Tots drive. We would like to thank all who donated in helping us give a little holiday cheer to those in need. Thank You.

If you have ever driven through Newton in the middle of December and seen a fire truck filled with cartoon characters and Santa and wondered, what is going on? Well it's just our members making the annual visit to the pediatric ward at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Each year we bring smiles (and presents) to children who aren't able to be at home for the holidays.
